Products Description:
Stevia is in a member of the chrysanthemum family and is a plant native to rain forests of Paraguay and Brazil. It is now grown in those areas, as well as in China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Israel.
The leaves from the small shrub are traditionally utilized by the native people as a non-sugar-sweetening agent in foods and beverage. It is now widely consumed by millions of people from Paraguay to Asian counties. The leaves are a very sweet liquorice-like flavor. It contains "STEVIOSIDE", a substance that is approximately 300 times sweeter than sucrose.
Stevia is a genus of about 240 species of herbs and shrubs in the sunflower family (Asteraceae), native to subtropical and tropical regions from western North America to South America. The species Stevia rebaudiana, commonly known as sweet leaf, sweet leaf, sugar leaf, or simply stevia, is widely grown for its sweet leaves. As a sweetener and sugar substitute,Stevia's taste has a slower onset and longer duration than that of sugar, although some of its extracts may have a bitter or licorice-like aftertaste at high concentrations.
With its extracts having up to 300 times the sweetness of sugar, stevia has garnered attention with the rise in demand for low-carbohydrate, low-sugar food alternatives. Medical research has also shown possible benefits of stevia in treating obesity and high blood pressure. Because stevia has a negligible effect on blood glucose, it is attractive as a natural sweetener to people on carbohydrate-controlled diets.
The availability of stevia varies from country to country. In a few countries, it has been available as a sweetener for decades or centuries;for example, stevia is widely used as a sweetener in Japan where it has been available for decades. In some countries, stevia is restricted or banned. In other countries, health concerns and political controversies have limited its availability; for example, the United States banned stevia in the early 1990s unless labeled as a supplement, but in 2008 approved rebaudioside-A extract as a food additive.Over the years, the number of countries in which stevia is available as a sweetener has been increasing

Product Characteristics:
1) Green
Stevia is a natural sweetener extracted from Stevia leaves.
2) Safe
Stevia has been consumed for over 400 years at its place of origin in Paraguay. To-date, no harmful illness has been associated with stevia.Stevioside does not participate in human's metabolism. It does not accumulate within the body, it is non-toxic and its safety. Stevia has been widely used in Japan where there is no upper limit on the quantity that may be consumed for this type of sweetener. The Ministry of Health in China in 1985 and again in 1990 separately approved stevia as the natural sweetener and a supplement as sweetener agent for medicine applications.

3) High Sweetness
Stevia's sweetness is 200-300 times that of cane sugar. Stevioside and Rebaudioside A are the main components of Stevia. The sweetness is pure, cool and lasting and its natural sweetness resembles that of cane sugar. In comparison to cane sugar, we can reduce significantly the cost of production and save at least 60% in costs. At the same time, we will be able to save the transportation and warehousing components of expenses.
4) Low Calorie
Total caloric value from stevia is only 1/300 of that of cane sugar. It can be used in the making of low-calorie food and drinks. Stevia is especially suitable for patients with diabetics, obesity, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, dental cavities and so on.

5) Health
Stevia is recognized as a nutritional food and health supplement by people in global medical fields.400 years ago, the original inhabitants in Paraguay began making use of Stevia as a herbal medicine to cure common colds, influenza and fistula hyperemia. Modern medical research studies show that Stevia is helpful in regulating blood sugar level, blood pressure, raising energy level and improving brain activity. It is also helpful in reducing body fat and for weight control. In addition, it has good effects on skin care and in treating other skin related diseases.

6) Efficiency
Stevia is stable in its form and does not react to acid, alkali, heat and light. It does not ferment. It does not get moldy and deteriorate in quality if stored for a long time. As a sweetener in beverage and food, it can slow the growth of bacteria thus prolong the freshness quality guaranteed period. In addition, Stevia can reduce up to 60% in the cost of the production, with significant savings in transportation and warehousing cost.

7) Applications
As food additives, beverages, medicine and health supplements, various condiments, complex
sweetener, pickles and other preservatives, cigarette flavoring, no-decay toothpaste, cosmetics, wine and spirits additives, etc.If taken frequently, it can prevent a lot of diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, heart disease and tooth decay, etc. It is an ideal sweetener in place of cane sugar. Stevia can be widely used in food, beverages and drinks, medicine, chemical products for daily use, wine-making, cosmetics, flavorings, etc. Industries.

Cautions
Do not use Stevia during pregnancy or while nursing, or if you have any blood sugar level disorders including diabetes or hypoglycemia without proper consultation with a health care provider.

Availability
Widely used as a sweetener or dietary supplement.
Availability notes
In the United States, rebaudioside A is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) as of December 2008.The leaves and other extracts are available as dietary supplements.
In Australia and New Zealand, prior to their October 2008 approval of all steviol glycoside extracts, stevia leaves could be sold as food.
The European Food Safety Authority is conducting a safety review and is expected to permit stevia extract to be used in the EU member states in 2010.
A report was issued from this review, on March 10, 2010, indicating that steviol glycosides are safe up to an Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) of 4 mg/kg body weight/day, but that those levels are likely to be exceeded at the proposed maximum use levels in both adults and children.

What is the FDA's position on Stevia?
The FDA's position on Stevia is somewhat ambiguous. In 1991, citing a preliminary mutagenicity study, the FDA issued an import alert which effectively blocked the importation and sale of Stevia in this country. Ironically, this was the year that a follow-up study found flaws in the first study and seriously questioned its results.

In September of 1995, the FDA revised its import alert to allow Stevia and its extracts to be imported as a food supplement but not as a sweetener. Yet, it defines Stevia as an unapproved food additive, not affirmed as GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) in the United States. The following is a portion of this revised alert:

"If Stevia is to be used in a dietary supplement for a technical effect, such as use as a sweetener or flavoring agent, and is labeled as such, it is considered an unsafe food additive. However, in the absence of labeling specifying that stevia is being or will be used for technical effect, use of stevia as a dietary ingredient in a dietary supplement is not subject to the food additive provisions of FD & C ACT."

In my opinion, this revision represents a political compromise between the artificial sweetener and sugar lobbyists and the Natural Food Industry and its representatives, as mediated by the FDA.
