Description of Andrographis Paniculata Extract
This annual grows to a height of ½ -1 meter with a tap root. Branching is profuse, leaves are green, lanceolate, 3-7 x 1-2.3 cm glabrous with slightly undulate margin, its apex is acuminate with a tapering base. Flowers are small and solitary; Corolla is whitish or light pink in colour, hairy. Fruit is a capsule, linear, oblong and acute at both ends, seeds are numerous.

This traditional Asian herb Andrographis paniculata has attracted attention for applications ranging from joint health to immune health, but new research suggests the herb may also support healthy cognitive function. Andrographis paniculata extract inhibits interleukin-6 expression and suppresses prostate cancer cell growth.
For centuries, this plant has been used as an official herbal medicine in China for the treatment of various human illnesses, including acute hepatitis, meningitis, choriocarcinoma, malaria, and many other acute inflammatory conditions that can be studied using different animal models.
Some studies have suggested that ANDRO might exert neuroprotective effects, i.e., against damage induced by dopamine in mesencephalic neuronglial cultures associated with a protective effect on inflammation-mediated neurodegeneration, oxidative stress induced by nicotine in the brain, and cerebral
ischemia by inhibiting certain pathways related to inflammation and apoptosis, including Akt, NF-κB and MAPK signaling.
