Cortex Phellodendri Extract refers to an object extracted from the dry bark of a yellow bark tree or Cortex Phellodendri in the Rutaceae family. Cortex Phellodendri is also known as amur berberis, cypress, and barberry, and its main ingredient is berberine. Used as a bittering agent, It has anti-microbial and protozoan, antihypertensive, anti-adrenaline-like effects, relaxes vascular smooth muscle, excites the uterus, bladder, bronchus, gastrointestinal tract, choleretic and excites the cerebral cortex.
Cortex Phellodendri Extract promotes collagen production and also has anti-oxidant properties with anti-aging effects. It inhibits hair growth, and combined with an activating effect on aromatase, it can be used in skin hirsutism. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory and odor-suppressing properties.
Functions:
1. Antibacterial: The effective antibacterial ingredient of Phellodendron chinense is berberine. In vitro tests are effective against Staphylococcus aureus, pneumococcus, diphtheria bacillus, streptococcus viridans, dysentery bacillus (except Sonnett), etc.
2. Antihypertensive effect: Phellodendron amurense can produce significant and lasting antihypertensive effect on anesthetized animals by intravenous or intraperitoneal injection. Carotid injection is stronger than intravenous injection, so the hypotension may be central.
3. Anti-hepatitis: Phellodendron amurense decoction has an inhibitory effect on hepatitis B antigen in a 6.25%-100% in vitro test.
4. Anti-trichomoniasis: A 10% concentration of Phellodendron amurense decoction and a 1:1 mixture culture of Trichomonas can inhibit Trichomonas vaginalis.
5. Improve immune function
