Konjac Glucomannan Introduction
Konjac glucomannan has an important regulatory effect on nutritional balance,and also has effects of weight loss,intestinal laxative,and cholesterol metabolism.It has significant effects on arteriosclerosis,gallstones,constipation,diabetes,and obesity.It can lower blood sugar and serum cholesterol levels after meals,but has no obvious effect on fasting blood sugar,and can also inhibit colorectal cancer.
Konjac glucomannan is a natural plant polysaccharide,which is soluble in cold and hot water,but insoluble in organic solvents such as methanol and ether.The reason for this solubility is still controversial.Some researchers believe that it may be due to its long side chain,which can hinder intermolecular association and enhance solvation.The glucomannan produced during the dissolution process.Derivatives can improve its water solubility.Another widely accepted view is that the presence of acetyl substitution in the main chain can inhibit the formation of intramolecular hydrogen bonds and promote the dissolution.
