Introduction:
Alpha-mangostin is a xanthone compound extracted from the mangosteen. In addition, α-mangostin is derived from the active ingredients of natural mangosteen, which is safe, non-toxic and has a long history of consumption. At present, α-mangostin is mainly extracted from mangosteen husk. Cyclooxygenase is involved in a variety of pathophysiological processes, and its high expression plays a significant role in promoting inflammation, pain, cardiovascular disease, senile dementia, and cancer occurrence and development at all stages. α-mangostin also inhibits cyclooxygenase activity in a range similar to that of γ-mangostin.
Benefits:
1. Phytoestrogen-like effects
The biological effects of phytoestrogens are mainly manifested in hormone-related diseases, such as breast cancer, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and menopausal syndrome. Alpha-mangostin has therapeutic effects on hormone-related diseases.
2. Apoptosis
The apoptosis-inducing effect of α-mangostin provides a new approach for leukemia immunotherapy.
3. Inhibit the action of sphingomyelinase
Sphingomyelinase is a hydrolase of sphingomyelin and is involved in the regulation of cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis and other processes. It is closely related to the occurrence of intestinal tumors. α-Inhibits the activity of sphingomyelinase.
