Buchu Leaf Oil Introduction:
Buchu leaf oil is obtained by harvesting fresh leaves of the Rutaceae plant Buku (also known as South African geranium) from March to April, sun-dried and steam distilled from the dried leaves. The relative density (d15) is 0.918~0.960, and the optical rotation is -15°~-48°. It has a strong and fresh sweet aroma with bitter taste. Main ingredients: Diophenol, Diomin, hesperidin, flavonoid glycosides, etc.
Buchu Oil is a yellow to brownish-yellow liquid, oily or somewhat viscous, depending upon the age of the oil and the dryness of the plant material prior to distillation. The odor is very peculiar: strong, bitter-sweet, minty-camphoraceous, rootlike, penetrating and somewhat medicinal, reminiscent of cough preparations.
