Horsetail is a perennial herb. The rhizomes are creeping roots with color as brown. It is a kind of herbal medicine with a very long history of use. Traditionally it is used to stop bleeding, treat ulcers and trauma, and treat tuberculosis and kidney disease. The stem contains a lot of organic silicon and silicic acid which help repair fractures and form collagen which is an important protein in connective tissue, skin, bones, cartilage and ligaments. Application:
1. Diuresis and kidney problems
Wenjing's most famous usage is as a mild diuretic ("drainage medicine") to increase urination and reduce edema, and as a treatment for a variety of bladder and kidney problems (including kidney stones and bladder infections).
2. Osteoporosis
