Milk Thistle Extract Introduction:
Milk thistle is a plant named for the white veins on its large prickly leaves. Milk thistle plant is native to Europe and was brought to North America by early colonists. Milk thistle is now found throughout the eastern United States, California, South America, Africa, Australia, and Asia. One of the active ingredients in milk thistle called silymarin is extracted from plant seeds. Silymarin is believed to have antioxidant properties.
Milk thistle has been safely used as a medicinal herb for centuries. Milk Thistle Extract is a unique flavonoid complex-containing silybin, silydianin, and silychristin. These unique phytochemicals from the milk thistle have been the subject of decades of research into their beneficial properties, as a supportive treatment for inflammatory liver conditions such as cirrhosis, hepatitis, and fatty infiltration caused by alcohol and other toxins.
